Last week, we looked back at the fantastic year we had. Now let’s look at what’s to come, and what’s happening in the publishing world in 2018.
Kicking off the new year, we have New Delhi Book Fair. Besides the many literary and publishing conferences to be organised during the Fair, it also opens up a gateway to the publishing and intellectual world of South Asia.
On January 22nd, you can join Byte the Book’s event ‘New Voices: How Can We Support Diversity in Writing, Publishing and Reading in the UK?’. Listen to a panel of industry experts explore how we can encourage new voices in publishing and how can we support diversity across the industry.
The BookMachine Unplugged series is on 21st February on the theme of book production, where speakers will challenge the print production status quo from only a few years ago. Network with fellow publishing professionals and hear about modern – and smart – ways to make changes to how we can all produce books.
From 7th – 9th March, we will be at the IPG 2018’s Annual Spring Conference – the meet-up for independent publishers each year – at the Crowne Plaza Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire. We will be revealing what is new with IPR and meeting some old and new publishing friends.
Paris Book Fair takes place from 16th – 19th March. Next year, Paris Book Fair is looking forward to welcoming Russia as a guest of honor. Livre Paris will receive a delegation of 30 authors with reflections of the diversity and dynamism of contemporary Russian literary creation. Next is The Bologna Children’s Book Fair. With over 50 years of experience, The Bologna Children’s Book Fair, the largest and certainly the most important international trade show and book fair dedicated to children’s books, is on 26th – 29th March.
On 28th of March, our Senior Sales Manager is tutoring Introduction to Sales Management in Scholarly Publishing: Selling to libraries, academics and institutions.
on behalf of The Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers. He has over eight years’ experience in international sales in academic publishing with Taylor & Francis, having lived and worked in England, Singapore, China and Japan.
This brings us nicely up to London Book Fair on 10th – 12th of April. Martin Jack will also be travelling throughout the year to increase our global presence in the publishing marketplace. With so much going on at the start of 2018, let us know if we will see you in 2018, and have a happy New Year!
